The Lexus GS is comprehensively equipped with the most technologically advanced passive and active safety systems available on the market today.

Its use of high-tension material for all panel components is increased to 45% to realise a light, yet highly rigid body. The high durability of the crash box and front side member, together with the enlargement of bumper reinforcements, further enhance energy absorbing efficiency.

The Lexus GS benefits from up to 10 airbags; two-stage Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) front airbags, left and right side airbags for front and rear occupants protection, as well as both front and rear side curtain airbags and, for the first time in the segment, driver and front passenger knee airbags. The knee airbags are designed to deploy from the lower part of the instrument panel at the same time as the front airbags to reduce injury from contact with the steering column and lower dashboard structures. They also help to reduce head and chest injuries by reducing the pelvis displacement and rotation of the torso in a major impact.

'The  Lexus GS has been created with the express aim of achieving maximum safety', says Karl Schlicht, Vice-President of Lexus Europe, 'Our target was not only to protect the cabin occupant when an accident occurs but also to develop innovative accident avoidance system like  Pre-Crash Safety system and Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management System.'

The Lexus GS430 features the latest generation of Lexus' Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM), system that enhances performance, traction control and vehicle stability.

It also features, as an option, the most advanced Pre-Crash Safety system (PCS). The PCS pre-emptively optimises front seat belt and emergency braking systems to help reduce collision damage and injury, whilst a complementary Adaptive Cruise Control system (ACC) automatically matches the speed of the GS to that of the vehicle ahead.

Intelligent Adaptive Front Lighting (I-AFS) enhances visibility through bends, and a Tyre Pressure Warning System (TPWS) can detect a loss of pressure in one or more tyres.
