The LF-A is a revolutionary 200mph, two-seat, rear-wheel drive supercar with a 500bhp-plus powerplant and near-perfect weight distribution to optimise high-speed handling. The fourth LF concept car to reflect the L-finesse Lexus design philosophy, it represents a fundamental reappraisal of supercar design.
Simplicity of both form and function is reflected in uncluttered, dynamic styling, while elegance, inside and out, is reinforced by a focus on subtle yet intriguing luxury.
On board, the positioning and sizing of all major components have been redefined and condensed to create an optimum 50-50 front/rear weight balance on an exceptionally compact platform. For example, the radiator is positioned in the rear, cooled by two large fans below the tail lights. Seamlessly incorporated into the rear profile, this arrangement doesn't just look good, it also contributes to the concept car's optimum high-speed handling and stability.
The engine is a radical, lightweight all-alloy powerplant capable of developing more than 500bhp from a cubic capacity of less than 5.0 litres. Allied to optimum gearing, weight and aerodynamics, the drivetrain is designed to give the LF-A a maximum speed in excess of 200mph.
The LF-A is a striking example of the fundamental guiding principle for Lexus, the pursuit of perfection, combining technology, insight and knowledge to push the boundaries of the possible.
