The Geneva Motor Show demonstrates how Lexus also leads the field in the adoption of hybrid technology in premium vehicles. Two of the marque's flagship hybrid vehicles will be on display: the GS 450h (the world's first hybrid luxury saloon) and the RX 400h (the world's first high performance hybrid SUV).
Hybrid technology brings a new dynamic to driving by combining both a petrol engine and an electric motor. The GS 450h is the world's first performance hybrid sedan, and the first full hybrid vehicle to combine front engine mounting with the rear wheel drive essential to sports driving dynamics.
On sale in Europe from summer 2006, the GS 450h features a 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine plus a high-output, electric motor equipping the new GS with performance characteristics comparable with a conventional 4.5 litre V8 engine.
The Lexus stand will also feature a cut body version of the RX 400h to enable visitors to see precisely how the future of motoring – hybrid – works. The RX 400h harnesses the power of a V6 petrol engine and two electric motors to give smooth, impressive power, high fuel economy plus low emissions in a luxury SUV.
