The F SPORT emblems on the front fenders confirm the sports driving heritage of the F SPORT and highlight its motorsport-inspired DNA, seen in the aggressive design influences and advanced sports driving features such as the exclusive meter and wheels inherited directly from the Lexus LFA.
The F SPORT suspension was design to deliver damping characteristics that suit sports driving sensibilities, giving a natural feeling response to the road conditions and vehicle behavior. To achieve this, exclusive tuning of both the double wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension included the coil springs, shock absorbers and other components, together with the EPS.
It optimally controls the steering angle in response to vehicle speed and steering input, helping to realize excellent maneuverability and stability from low through the high speeds. At low to mid speeds that require frequent steering input, such as driving in urban areas and on winding roads, the steering gear ration is optimized to provide a light, nimble feeling. At high speeds, the response is optimized to realize a stable steering feel.
From the road up the F SPORT package aggressively states its intent. The exclusive F SPORT wheels feature a taut Y-shape spoke design that originated in the Lexus LFA V10 supercar, marking this F SPORT as a direct inheritor of the LFA bloodline, and powerfully expressing its performance characteristics.
The bold aggressive face of the F SPORT package with dramatic ‘spindle grille’ exudes high performance. The exclusive grille design has a high pinch point, changing mesh shape from top to bottom, and large lower grille which, together with brake ducts in the front bumper, draws in large volumes of air for cooling.
AL-TPWS contributes to tire life and fuel efficiency by displaying the pressure of each tire in the multi-information display. When low tire pressure is detected, the display shows the air pressure value of the affected tire in amber, together with an in-meter warning lamp.
The IS features eight sensor-controlled SRS airbags together with pre-tensioners and force limiters of the front seatbelts. The front occupants are protected by dual-stage SRS driver airbag, dual-stage SRS front passenger airbag, SRS knee airbags and SRS side airbags. SRS curtain shield airbags cover the front and rear door windows.
The innovative PUH provides pedestrian protection in the event of a frontal collision and at the same time enables a sporty design with a low hood line. When the sensors mounted in the front bumper determine that the vehicle has collided with a pedestrian, the hood instantly pops up to create a space to absorb the impact force.
One of the advanced safety systems that help drivers feel at home behind the wheel in sports and daily driving, this system uses millimeter-wave radars mounted in the rear bumper to detect vehicles in adjacent lanes that are not visible in the door mirrors. The moment a vehicle enters this blind spot, the driver is warned by an indicator in the relevant door mirror.
LDA alerts the driver with a buzzer and on the multi-information display if the system judges the vehicle is about to cross the lane markings without using the turn signals. The Automatic High Beam System helps safe driving at night by instantly switching from high to low beam when the lights of an oncoming vehicles, or the tail lights of a vehicle in front, are detected.
