IS_F Sport VGRS (Variable Gear Ratio Steering)

It optimally controls the steering angle in response to vehicle speed and steering input, helping to realize excellent maneuverability and stability from low through the high speeds. At low to mid speeds that require frequent steering input, such as driving in urban areas and on winding roads, the steering gear ration is optimized to provide a light, nimble feeling. At high speeds, the response is optimized to realize a stable steering feel.

IS_Safety Eight Airbags

The IS features eight sensor-controlled SRS airbags together with pre-tensioners and force limiters of the front seatbelts. The front occupants are protected by dual-stage SRS driver airbag, dual-stage SRS front passenger airbag, SRS knee airbags and SRS side airbags. SRS curtain shield airbags cover the front and rear door windows.

IS_Safety PUH (Pop Up Hood)

The innovative PUH provides pedestrian protection in the event of a frontal collision and at the same time enables a sporty design with a low hood line. When the sensors mounted in the front bumper determine that the vehicle has collided with a pedestrian, the hood instantly pops up to create a space to absorb the impact force.

IS_Safety Blind Spot Monitor System

One of the advanced safety systems that help drivers feel at home behind the wheel in sports and daily driving, this system uses millimeter-wave radars mounted in the rear bumper to detect vehicles in adjacent lanes that are not visible in the door mirrors. The moment a vehicle enters this blind spot, the driver is warned by an indicator in the relevant door mirror.

IS_Safety Pre-crash safety system

When the millimeter-wave radar detects the likelihood of a collision with the vehicle or obstacle ahead, it alerts the driver with a display and a buzzer, and the pre-crash brake assist increase braking force when the driver depresses the brake pedal. If it determines a collision is difficult to avoid, the pre-crash brakes and pre-crash seatbelts also operates to help reduce injury due to collision.
